Is it Ever Right for a Christian to Marry a Non-Christian?

Is it ever right for a Christian to marry a non-Christian. Don Carson thinks that yes, there is a time when it is ok.  In this letter to a young church planter, Carson tackles the case of a couple who have been living together for years without being married. Then one of them becomes a Christian.

What is a pastor/evangelist/church planter to do? Encourage them to marry? Encourage them to split up?

Carson says that the right thing to do is usually to have them marry. Read the whole thing. There are also some good comments after the article that bring up salient points.

Ultimately any decision like this would be made at the elder level, but it is good for all to know some of issues involved.  May the Lord graciously gives us conversions so that we have issues like this.
